Hillside Christian School is a K-8 private school which has successfully educated generations of children since opening in 1981. Our primary goal is to assist parents in the responsibility of educating their children according to Biblical principles. This is accomplished through curriculum with a Christian worldview taught by mature Christian educators. The school was originally a ministry of Hillside Bible Church. Accreditation is through Christian Schools International and Hillside accepts Educational Savings Accounts funding through the State of Iowa’s Students First program.
Individual children’s learning styles and rates are naturally accommodated in our multi-grade classrooms. High academic standards are balanced with plenty of time for creative play and exploration so that children can enjoy childhood, not be hurried through it. Building children’s character and faith take priority at Hillside Christian School.
Hands-on learning experiences are common in our classrooms, and a family atmosphere encourages students of all ages to work, play and pray together. Parents have many opportunities to participate in the school day and to interact with our teachers.
Weekly music and art classes, and outdoor classroom lessons enrich the school day. Annual standardized testing and regular student evaluations provided feedback for student progress. Hillside students enjoy field trips, guest speakers and participation in community projects. Whether delivering Valentines at a nursing home or picking up trash in a park, serving Christ is the focus.
